Jonathan Smith
Senior Lecturer , Exeter University
Jonathan is passionate about helping individuals and organisations realise their full potential. He emphasises the importance of self-awareness, of thinking holistically and on collaboration. He is a Senior Lecturer at Exeter University and facilitates a variety of explorations on Leadership and Human Resource Management topics in the Business School at Exeter University and previously in the Business School at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. He has worked as both a manager, coach, and management development trainer in a variety of public and private sector organisations including Outward Bound, the University of Hertfordshire and in the police. He trained initially as a mechanical engineer and held a number of engineering positions. He researches and writes extensively on leadership, policing and the spiritual dimension to work, and gained his PhD at Hull University in 2005.
He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), Member of the ILM, and Senior Fellow of the HE Academy. He is married with two children and enjoys being in the outdoors – cycling, walking and making things.
